Scarce speed sensors
Discussion
Took my car to the dealers today(eratic speedo) on arrival they said it may need a new speed sensor but sadly they are out of stock and they are on back order( 2 months wait ). I read a few threads from a couple of years ago where they had the same back order issues, shurely TVR should have sorted this shortage out when it seems to be quite a common problem!
Meanwhie the garage suggest i take the car away and they will call me when the part arrives, my problem is the car is racking up the miles it puts 20 miles on the clock waiting for it to warm up. Is there a fuse which can be removed to prevent this and if removed what else is affected, i also have a limited milage insurance policy and dont want to put unwanted miles on the clock, do you think an insurance company would accept an explanation from the garage and nullify these extra miles. Fuse ? Please tell me you have not thought this through ?
20 miles ? Limited mileage ? Do you realise how much your car costs per year ?
£2000 depreciation (min)
£1000 warranty (if needed)
£1000 Service
plus tyres, tax etc
An un restrcuted ins policy is up to approx £1000. A restricted one less than £500. Do you really need to save £500 ? This is not even a set of tyres or a service. Change ins co's and go out and use the damn thing !!

I think its fair to say given the choice between spending £150 more on my insurance to get unlimited mileage or removing a fuse from something which isn't functioning anyway, I'd choose the fuse too. Some people have limited mileage policies because they can't drive the car more (for instance I was in the US the whole of January - so 8% less mileage for me for starters).
I don't know if there is a 'speedo/odo' fuse - check the manual.
Hope you've got a road angel or similar to tell you the speed you're travelling. Too many Tallivans waiting to catch you these days.
