Silverstone F1 tickets--Where to buy?? and first timer info.
Discussion
Hi folks.
Could anyone suggest somewhere to buy F1 tickets for Silverstone.
It will be my first time, and will be taking my 70 year old dad as part of his birthday present this year.
I've googled, by obviously get loads of hits, and it would be good to hear from a regular buyer, or someone that's brought them hassle free before.
Also, is it best to get Grandstand tickets with seating??
Any info will be mostly apprieciated.
Thanks in advance.

And may the lord have mercy on your wallet.
And may the lord have mercy on your wallet.
Only my own personal experience but i have been once and wouldnt bother again unless i could afford the corporate boxes.
Me and my mate went last year for the 3 days , first 2 days we had a roaming pass which was ok but on race day we had seats in Luffield B .
You cant hear anything through the tannoy system above the cars (obviously), and although their are big screens you cant read anything on them.
We didnt find out who had qualified where until after qualifying and didnt find out about Kimi,s engine change until we watched it back on sky+ .
The grandstands are very cramped and if you are above average height or weight you will have a very uncomfortable race day, sardines and tins spring to mind.
If you do still decide to go ear plugs / defenders are a must as after just 30 mins of practice my ears were constantly ringing.
As i said this is all my own personal experience ( yes i am 6ft and big boned )
Nick.

if your dad is 70 then you must get a grandstand ticket. otherwise you have to stand up all day in the same place, if you move away you lose your space. with a seat you can come and go as you please..
as mentioned , its cramped (im 6'2) and even in the summer the grandstands with roofs can be cold as it gets a bit windy, its far too expensive, and with some grandstands you are too far from the circuit. however its a bloody fantastic day! ive been going for 8 years now and i wouldnt miss it! despite the spiteful price.
seeing f1 cars (and hearing them!) is a real spectacle, youll have a blast! the food around the track is rough, you cant get a decent pint (fosters only. ugh!) and the toilets leave a bit to be desired.. youll love it. i do.
you have to take a personal radio to know whats going on on track. they have their own radio station broadcasting the race. if you book on-line on silverstones own circuit you dont pay any booking fee. also they have a cool interactive map on the website now, so you can see a 360 degrees view of the grandstands, to help you make your mind up.
im sitting on the hanger staright this year, nice and fast. if you want to see more of the cars (for longer) then woodcote is a winner as you can see them coming through the slow stuff to the right then hit the main straight and fly down towards copse, thats a sight to behold. seen from behind it doesnt look like they are going to stop! you also get to see the start and finish and the driver coming into the pits. its not the cheapest grandstand by far, but you will enjoy it..
cool
