I'm having a mid life crisis, and need to buy myself a little toy.

Where should I be looking to find myself a tidy 'previously loved' Elise in the South East?

Buy private and get any prospective purchase checked out by a reputable Lotus specialist so you know exactly what you're buying.

Most places will charge around £150 to check a car over really thoroughly (should take a couple of hours) and any owner selling a car which is bona fide should have no problem in having this done (I would expect it from a buyer who's done their homework).

If you must go to a dealers check Adrian Blyth too - they always seem to have a good range stock and are very friendly chaps.

Agree with the above. Found a local car in SELOC Classifieds, the seller took it to Sinclaire in Romford where I had it inspected (great service, recommended and cost is 1hr labour, about £84 all in) and we took it from there.

Most of the BoLOC's cars are from one dealer who really takes care of us. It may be a bit west but Chris Amey takes great care of us and there is never a bad word said. I cant recomend Westover enough.

Another thumbs up for Adrian Blyth. He is based near Hindhead so a quick trip down the A3 for you.
