The problem I have is would the GT2 be good as a daily drive like the 996tt, plus would a 996ttX50 help the situation?

Help would be appreciated alot!!!!

Plus does anyone no how to price these cars, are they good deals?

cars fine over road bumps... not as low as my old gt3 mk1.... the gt2 is much quiter and refined for everyday use than the gt3.... a lot of posts on ph to do with gt2 being monsters are mostly incorrect....its very refined... have to be careful of course were and when to put on power and how much.. thats all... if your are a experienced in performance cars then the gt2 is the nuts... if not dont buy one...depends on your abilities...???

Thanx for that!

What's the best way of finding out if a GT2 has been in an accident?
Would an OPC 111 point check help?

Also I would like to know if I do go for a GT2 what do I do about the ceramic discs situation?
Do the 996tt discs fit straight on?
How can you tell if ceramic discs have any life left in them?

Asking the previous owner/s is always a good start.
OPC PPI no guarantee of uncovering a cars previous "history" IMHO
Porsche specialist bodyshop a better bet from my experience.

be careful... good few crashed gt2 out there... i decided to buy one of a opc... you probably wont be able too due to the scarcity of theses cars.... !!! get a opc to check car and get a 111 point check done and then get warrenty... they will not give you warrenty on a car unless its 100% before hand... !!!! in fact a porsche garage cant sell cars which have had bad smacks... thats why some gt2s get traded to non porsche garages....

i went through the exact same thing 2 weeks ago, was looking at the red gt2 st rsj, finally bought a black tt off him because though the gt2 is a fantastic car i use mine quite alot and 4 wheel drive may be usefull to me in the frost or belting down a wet back road trying to lose my mates evo9 and back seats though crap are there for an emergency. some sunny mornings i wish i had a gt2 but i know i made the right decision for me personally.

I love the idea of a GT2 as a pure plaything which can been hooned/tracked/challenged(you not the car!). It'll bite if not used with care, and you'll need concentration when pressing on through a curve.

I don't think of the TT as a toy - it's too clinically efficient at what it does. Imo, the TT is a brilliant GT. If I needed something fast to get me down to the south of France on a regular basis in any weather, I think it's a brilliant machine.

If you want the pure undiluted driving experience, go GT3...

I agree with polarexpress, the gt2 and gt3 are much more fun than the 996tt if the car is used as a toy....if the car is used in all weathers and not ever tracked the 996tt is much better because it has been designed to be a quick road car where conditions invariably are not perfect.

It's a bit of a 'no brainer', where the sensible money goes. But don't write off the GT2 as a decent everyday car. The problem is, that the TT is probably about the greatest 'all weather' supercar on the planet, so there's a lot to live up to.
I had the misfortune of having to use my GT2 in the snow a couple of years back - to tow my G/F's car to the garage! A bit hairy, I must admit, but it coped admirably, and you should've seen the looks I got.
I guess the bottom line is whether you make the decision with your heart or your head. My advice is, go for the GT2, no one is sure whether Porsche are going to build another car like that, and it'd be a shame to of had the chance and not taken it. The TT will be around for many years..........

My TT X50 was awesome for everything - every 1 of the 30,000 miles it covered.

Track, Europe, 5am frosty starts, torrential rain. Simply PERFECT.

But that's why I crave a GT2, something different.... and perhaps a little more scary!

I thought a TT on track was scary......Aren't the brakes a problem?

I too want to swap out of the TT into GT2 for no other reason than cos it's naughty.

It's a very hard decision, this and I doubt there's a right or wrong answer.

In dry conditions, like the north this afternoon, I'll wager a well suspended 2wd slice of bacon will hunker down and grunt with the very finest 4wd contraptions and avail the helmsman of the purer aroma that only undriven front wheels can serve up.

On the other hand, this is not some effette, eurobatty enclave, replete with chirping clock birds and hardy yompers spouting aggressive, clipped accents, free to annexe low lying farmsteads wearing freshly pressed lederhose, along perfectly cemented, teutonic boulevards ~ it is a land of rutted vermin bedecked with layer of unconstituted scum.

Under such conditions, 4 powered wheels invariably trump 2.

The GT2 is the best supercar money can buy, it has power that beggers belief, it will shame a Ferrari 360, the performance figures don't do it justice.

The PCCB are fantastic with no fade, the handling is not as precise as a GT3, but the suspension is more forgiving and gives a bit more warning of impending doom.

Did I mention, its very fast?

The noise is intoxicating.

Its very fast.

Its a supercar that you can drive everyday, its as comfy doing 30 mph as it is at 130 mph.

You'd be a fool not to go for it at that price, and I know your not a fool.

hi turboman... finaly someone that knows what they are talking about when it comes to gt2s... i get a bit sick of people talking gt2s down as everyday cars....i use mine everyday and find it very refined.. quite simular to my old 350z apart from the obvious power difference... i came out of a MK1 GT3 AND COMPARED TO THAT its like a limo.... you can cruise at 30 mph in 6th gear as easy as 160 mph.... the cars are very comfortable in traffic compared to the gt3 which rattles alot on tick over... the gt2 suspension it not that stiff also, very comfortable in fact.... dont listen to alot of posts on the gt2 on ph... drive one yourself for a few days and draw your own conclusions...... they are great cars !!!
