Any idea how much I would need to pay for a genuine 4.3 BV, if I could fine one?

You won't find one cos they only made 4.3 BV Griffiths!

And for a factory original one of those in good condition you'd probably pay £15k - £18k.

There is a factory chim 4.3 BV (apparently) for sale on ebay!
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TVR-CHIMAERA-4-

Of course it could have just had the sticker stuck on the plenum!

Interesting one this?

Same colour as the BV CHIM! Advertised on Autotrader at the moment!

Yes does seem like the same car doesn`t it. Seems to be a dealer too, which makes this comment a bit strange "The trouble is - I just don't like it, carried away in the moment when I saw it but it is not for me (previous car was a GTR and they are very different)."

The TVR bible shows a Chimaera 4.3BV as an option and states that some Chimaera's had a factory conversion later on.
HHC has a std 4.3,1994 for £11995 with 43k miles www.tvr-hhc.co.uk

The person selling on Ebay is me - same as the person asking the question to ascertain its value (I have now taken it off because unwittingly I have made it seem dodgy). The car was bought off Autotrader at what seemed to be an undervalue. I thought it would make a good car to run and I would not lose to much in the future. I, in all honesty, do not care for it and I did have an R32 GTR - look at my profile.

I have stuck nothing on anywhere in an attempt to increase its value and have old sales details which would seem to suggest it is genuine. It started off life as a TVR demo car judging by the service book. I am also an accountant not a dealer, my Father imported cars and I sold them for him on Ebay and have been aboslutely honest in our dealings.

My apologies for any offence - I was attempting a good-humoured ribbing at the one day of ownership, rather than suggesting anything untoward!
Your best bet is to contact the factory. For £35 (or whatever the going rate is these days) they'll supply you with an original build specification and any other related paperwork for your car. If this proves the car is a BV, you've got a rare car and one which, with history and provenance, in good condition, might get 15-25% over the odds for a normal 4.3.

Thank you, I think you are right I shall get the history and attempt to resell again. No disrespect to TVR's but it is said that the GTR makes a bad driver look good on the same basis a TVR shows you how bad you are!

That seems to be very optimistic. Gerry Marshalls 4.3 sold for £6.25K, inc rebuilt engine and new paint. £10K tops for a 4.3BV?

Take your point - that was incredibly cheap. However:

99k miles (or so)
Retrospectively described by his son as suffering weather damage and electrical problems
Sold under reserve following auction
GM's name not on the log book (apparently)

You are quite correct, however
looked very nice in the photo
only 1,000 since rebuilt engine
main damage appears to be hood
actual selling price as opposed to asking price
Say fully sorted for £8K? Then £2K is a lot extra for the big valve premium IMHO.
