Newbie been bad....

Firstly, thanks to Scott and mark for their company this morning and particularly for Scotts advice to Mark and I as Newbies....
So to the point in hand; Finally got her out for a blatt today after ten days of ownership. met Scott in Edgware and we met Mark and a couple of my mates in harpenden. Have not been 100% convined by the Cerbie but it started growing on me.
On the way home I started to get the feel of the car and opened her up a tad more, hitting redline once or twice and starting to push her just a bit in the corners. Growing on me more.....
This evening I was driving a friend home and this is where I got bad. it wasn't my fault! She is young and doesn't know much about cars and innocently asked which was faster, mine or the Vanquish I had just over taken. Mr Nanquish obligingly decided he was up for a play. Obviously we didn't break the speed limit but had I been bad I would imagine that I could have held him up to about 130ish without any problems at all. Seems the harder you drive the Cerbie the more she has to give. Still not 100% convinced yet by the car as it is very different from what I have had in the past but I am astounded by how good the car is. OK, the build quality is not stunning in some respects and the suspension is perhaps not as complete as the Lotus Esprits I have owned but the cerbie is every bit as awesome as I had hoped.
Wasn't actually bad this evening in the car but if I had been I am sure I would be sitting here grinning like a moron but that would have involved several broken speed limits and I would never consider doing such a thing.
Oh, and as a slight aside, thanks not only to Scott and Mark for this morning but also all of those who have responded to my posts with advice in the last ten days. Really enjoying this forum.

I am not going to tell you how to drive, but please take it easy. These cars do have an ability to snap and bit you on the bum, just to let you know who's boss.
I never torment my car when its damp or cold, only really use half throttle. As for the 'red line' I dont have one but I have never hit the limiter or gone anywhere near it.
Build up slowly and dont get too over confident.

I have a limiter on mine, its in my back pocket and called my wallet!
Good point chaps! In the cold and wet and tend to be very conservative indeed and generally avoid driving in adverse conditions. I am still taking it farily snesably as I have been running suprcrs since I was 22 and have seen so many people wrap their cars or themselves round trees having just got a new car or bike. I did push her pretty hard last night on very wide, very quiet roads that I know well to try to give me some idea of the limit of the car in a safe environment. Having had a Griff in the past and not being terribly impressed by it (no offence to you griff owners out there - they are great cars, just didn't do what i want!) I bought the Cerbie on a bit of a whim without expecting much on the handling stakes. Very impressed so far.
Don't worry, I promise to be good, mainly as I have a strong aversion to seeing any supercar appearing on wreckedexotics.com, and even more so if I owned it at the time!

At this stage though i don't want to modify it. I figure i want to keep her for 2 or 3 months and then start when I know more about the car. I have not had a toy for about 6 months and I am really enjoying having one. At some stage I may well look at upgrading things to improve the high speed stability and handling but right now I am just enjoying the car too much to send her away just yet. Might put on a new zorts when she goes in for her next service though. Also I have no idea what upgrades to do so I need to start learning about that stuff as well.

the cerb left the vanquish for dead all the way in fact by the time they got to 150 the aston was 5 secs behind.
it also outran a porsche 911 turbo, ferrari 575 f1 and a mercedes sl55 amg.
It was only beaten buy a pagani zonda and a lambo murcielago which imho means i made the right decision to go for a cerb because the murcielago is ugly and the zonda costs nearly 350k.
