Office party

I've just got back into work after an office party on Friday, which I don't really remember much of, but I'm told I offered my boss 30mins of advice, and that he wants to see me today. Oh dear.

Any advance on this level of drunken stupidity at an office bash?

Well, despite my trying to avoid everyone yesterday, my boss did eventually track me down, and said that we needed to have a chat about my career after Christmas. Christ know's what I was saying, but I'm guessing I was saying I was looking at other jobs (which I am).

He accidentally broke the stress doll thingy he had in his hands whilst he was saying it, which is perhaps not a good sign.

I'd go in hard, tell him that you are aware of what was said and that you only said it because somebody told you that he had told them (insert applicable phrase) about you. Tell him you are prepared to forget it this time. It sounds like you're a bit bu99ered anyway so it can't hurt. Either that or complete grovelling. Best of luck.

It's not that bad. They're worried about me leaving, and I think he just want's to convince me to stay. They seem to be under the illusion that I'm good at my job, and would be hard to replace.

Sounds like a win-win situation to me.
Mind you, I'd persuaded my last 3 bosses in a row that I was good at my job, but they kept being made redundant.
