Arf arf

M23, Skyline GTR summat or other in front of me...it was blue anyway.
I was in 4th.
Outside lane clears and matey clearly changes down and floors it.
Huge plumes of black smoke and the Nissan moves away quite quickly...all I do is put my foot down and catch him as fast as ya like.

I change into 5th, he boots is again but can't outpace me and gives up at about 110 and moves over.

I WIN!!

Childish?
Oh yus.

Excellent, just the sort of "schoolboyish" behaviour I'm really missing now I'm HSVless. Did burn off an Audi in the Saab Aero (it's been to Abbott Racing for a minor improvement) today, that helps a bit.

I drove a chums stock Saab 93 diseasel a few weeks back and was pleasantly surprised as to how much grunt the thing had.

Major understeer though ...well, compared to the Moaner anyway.

No comparison at all being fwd & turbo etc., but the mid-range on our c.260bhp 9-5 Aero is brutish. Even after my HSV is still seems really fast 50-90mph. Saabs have always had good mid-range performance though.

Try an Astra HSV/VXR mid range is fantstic, albeit over short rev range. Some interesting remaps being suggested for them circa 280hp/300+lb ft of torque, i imagine midrange will be eye watering!!!!!

280bhp! And top gear thought the torque steer was bad before... Although TBH, if you wanted a properly fast, turboed car you might as well get a Suby or an Evo, the Astra is a nice car, but that FWD I think puts a lot of people off IMO and whether you get an Astra VXR or subaru/Evo, there is still going to be that 'chav' appeal that they don't seem to be able to shake off. You can't beat the pure grunt of a V8 at any point in the rev range, and once you get over 100mph you can wave good bye to just about any turboed car because of the sheer torque these things generate. Nice kill Nige, but watch out, some of those skylines are real sleepers and can have stupid HP numbers.

I had something stuck to my tail the other day which I had trouble shaking - I think it must have been one of those VXR220s. I was 2 up and I believe he/she was on their own, but still....

I have seen the rear wheel dyno results for a few Skylines that are verticle and over 1,000 BHP at Abbey M/sport so I tend to leave them alone & concentrate on German marques or those red Fiats.

Too true, wasn't that keen to tell all about the time I was burned off from the lights in the wet by a Golf Diesel. LOL.
