Decatting a Saxo VTS

Has anyone any experience of de-catting a Saxo VTS?
I am going to need a new exhaust in the next month and was considering a full system with Cat bypass pipe.
Any idea if it will get through its MOT or would it be best to wait until after that event?
Any reccomendations would be welcomed on Stainless exhausts as well, don't want a big cannon pipe, just something that works well. Considering the Milltek kit at the mo, it is approx £225.
