Anyone a member of P1 or alike?

I'm a devout member of The Classic Car Club. They've just take Ecurie 25 under their wing which has more exciting cars (Gallardo, 430 Spider). CCC costs about £3k a year Ecurie 25 about £8k.
It's a fantastic way to get to drive a lot of different cars, it's best when you try a car you don't expect much of, and then love it. Things like the Alfa GT Junior or Lancia Fulvia.

there is a guy on ww.fcars.co.uk who i believe is a member, he writes superb reviews on the cars he borrows from P1. Think his name on there is F328NVL

Yep John's a member - also owns a V12 Vantage of his own IIRC. He seems happy about what P1 offers him - find him on www.fcars.co.uk/ and get it from the horse's mouth

The selection only expands if the membership does. I'd always go on what a club has rather than what it promises it will have. Also watch out if the number of cars grows too quickly, they can be over optimistic on the basis that "if we have those great cars I'm sure the members will follow". When the members don't the club goes broke.
I agree that CCC and P1 are completely different. The CCC is for driving the kinds of cars you see in Life on Mars. Perhaps they should get a Mk III Cortina (my first car).

Hi guys - had a year in P1 in 2005.
Utterly jaw dropping experience from day 1, and comes thoroughly recommended. At the time I thought it was a lot of cash - but now having had running costs and depreciation on a Maser, the thought of jumping into something sparkling and different every weekend - that you don't have to maintain, is a no brainer.
Capped it off with using a load of miles I had left to do a Murcielago Monaco run over the alps to Milan - 3000 miles odd in 4 days.
What made it for me was that as I was new to this car lark when I joined P1, I chose to work up through the ranks over the year - starting with a Carrera 2 and finishing with the Murcielago, so each car just got better and better............

Fair comment but even on that criteria the 7 cars they now have are plenty exciting enough IMHO; can't comment on the membership / cars criteria but my understanding is that the cars are coming anyway - some exciting stuff to look forward to later in the year.

I think that is what he means - companies could be tempted to expand too quickly (ie more cars regardless of the true economics).
Are you connected to the Club? I notice they are using a photo you took of Dans 996RS?
They certainly look a nice prospect though, especially as they are linked to CCC who are obviously here in London to stay. If it wasn't for the fact that my partner is well under 30, I'd think very seriously about joining (she's kill me if she couldnt drive every now and again).
Go visit Ecurie 25, Erik is really helpful, I'm pointing a few players his way. Has a great line up of cars, and the points system seems quite good, for the amount of days I use my good cars this could definately be the way forward, invest the 70-80k you may spend on a nice car wisely and the money made would really offset the cost of membership nicely!
Just another point, Bund. I live quite close to P1's Leatherhead base. It is a definate advantage as delivery costs can add up. And besides, just turning up to the place is an event in itself. All the staff are very knowlegeable and spend as much time as you need demonstrating the controls.......or...err......where the filler cap release handles are!!
