Fancy a fag, anyone ?
Discussion
Hi Guys and Gals,
Mr DIY trying to burger things up as usual
Cigarette lighter fell out a while ago
Not so much of a problem on the smoking front as we don't but no power point for Sat Nav now.
Does anyone have any hints on how to get to the back of the unit ?
Thanks for any hints.

Take the ash tray out and push the little wire through the silver holder then making sure you have the plastic (clear) holder around the main body push it into the holder, crushing your fingers trying to hold the main body and turn it around. If you're not crying with the pain of trying to dismember your fingers then it won't screw home, I have tried this once for two hours and in the end took it to gorners who fixed it although it took them over an hour and a half and the mechanic said don't do it again he would rather have changed the clutch !!
It fell out again last week, not wanting to take it back to gorners I tried it myself using the method above after an hour (boo hoo) it finally screwed in (wahoo) i don't go near it now !! Maybe should have used some locking thread solution ?

Thanks for all the responses (apart from maybe Ridds)
I'm sorry 2 Smokin' but what on earth (if you'll pardon the pun) is an accumate link ??
And when you all say 'remove the ashtray', I have been on bended knees for more hours than Madonna with every conceivable size of screwdriver but cannot budge the outer casing !
Thanks Tyre Smoke but a bit vague considering I've assumed every position in the car-ma Sutra (and then some) in order to access that deviously hidden spot, The wife's clit was like the Eiffel Tour in comparison - Oops, sorry dear !
I feel I'll have to go the 'Gary Glitter' way and rent some Taiwanese ladyboy to get any fingers any smaller than my own little dabs.
Thanks TVRWhoa. I'll try your route -If I can read the PC whilst under the dash.
Thanks all for suggestions - Are the carpets glued down ALL the way around ??

Right, pay attention!
Open the driver's door and manoeuvre yourself into a position where you are able to reach in under the steering column and get your hand behind the bit of leather clad centre console where the ashtray/master switch/ciggy lighter is. The tricky bit is feeling around until you have located the back piece that screws over the bit that fits in from the front (the bit the element goes into). This back piece will likely have wire(s) attached via spade connectors for live and earth - careful you don't break them off!
The back bit fits over the front bit and tightens clockwise.
It helps if:
a) You are not 6'6"
b) You are not built like Geoff Capes
c) You don't have huge hands.
Stating the bleedin' obvious, but all ciggy lighters are the same, so if you can take apart the one on your Eurobox it might help!
