So many of you (us?) will have to spec 997 TTs without seeing a physical car - speccing starts in a couple of months, physical cars displayed from 24 June. The big question is - what colour is it going to look best in?

Too many 996 TTs are Arctic Silver - boring. However, I saw a newly released set of photos yesterday at my OPC which had the car in arctic silver - and it does look great - and they have chosen that for a reason. Silver allows all the scoops and spoilers to be seen, where black doesn't. However, I love Seal and Basalt.

Seal, Basalt or Arctic?

Seal for me - Basalt, no for the reason you gave, and Arctic, no, just because everyone will have it. Seal, IMO, looks quite classy, and will show off the scoops and curves nicely.....

Do Porsche not have the ability, or give you the option, of having the car 'any' colour ?

The Lambo grey colour would look amazing.

Whats the lambo grey called? The one on the new merci. I just had a look in evo and i think the colour is very similar to the early Audi TT's. Im sure they were a very flat grey and i thought they looked cool in that colour.

Arctic silver or a metallic grey between Seal and Arctic - Atlas is my fave with a tan and silver interior.

The silvers with a hint of blue in them don't work in my opinion. Equally important is the colour of the leather. My 996TT is basalt black with black leather and it's just too sombre. I prefer the lighter interior in a small cabin car - feels a bit classier too, less boy racer.

The colour to sample option means your wish is their command. For about £2000.

its funny, iv had cream leather, dark blue leather and black and iv always thought the black was the classiest. The cream was a joke i only had to wear dark jeans on a warm day and id have blue on my seats.

Well. I think if I were ordering a 100k car, I would definately be taking this option. I mean, you don't want to be seen in the same as everyone else do you.

Plus, the Turbo is a car you can keep a long, long, time & therefore you spec the car for YOU, not for residuals sake.

Not sure about the orange on a TT, but think it would be spot on for a GT3. Closely followed by white.

yeah, know what you mean: a silver 911 turbo will go un-noticed and have almost no capacity for trouble.

good point but a bright bloody orange one may well attract a few more eyes. Plus i think it looks tacky.
