Any targa users use the back windo boot thing?

Nothing wrong with asking questions, Andy - you need to be sure about what you're buying, even if certain people on here seem to assume that it's a sign of constant dithering and agonising, and not knowing whether the car is for you!

Can't help with your question but I'm interested in Targas too (albeit a 993 - if the budget will stretch that far) so I'll see what comments flow.

Hay i wasnt digging him, it was a joke between friends thats all. He should ask as many questions as possible before buying it, there not alot of good when you have the wrong car on your drive.

You feel stupid? Have you seen some of the stuff the regulars post on here! (myself and domster included). If you've got a question, get stuck in and fire away. If it's been asked before but you didn't find it using the "search" facility, you were probably using the wrong words or our spelling was wrong on the original thread. At least by asking again, someone may remember a relevent thread and post a link.

FWIW I would use it if I had a Targa (we regularly put a child's pushchair behind the rear seats ... with Targa flap life would be easier).
When I bought the car (almost 3 years ago now) I toyed with ordering a Targa but couldn't understand why it is such a premium over the hard top. Plus I'm sure they rattle over time....

Bund - nah... its rumoured im about 6 weeks away from being able to make the final commitment, so until then the questions will keep on flowing!
May come up with a second ID though for the really dumb ones. Like can i use a trailer with a 996 for extra storage..

For me, the reasons are as follows - want some form of open air, but need the security offered by a targa as its left overnight on the road. Most targas come with tip tronic which is something im leaning towards anyway. Oh, and my girlfriend likes them - why oh why is that a factor!!

I had a 996 Targa as my first porker.
It was good. I likes the glass roof very much. It made the cabin much more light and airy and as its allways there was used 100% of the time.
Im not one for sun on my head motoring, so only used the retracterbal part on cool summer evenings. It made for a nice relaxing drive.
The hatchback bit, I didnt use much. The car was never to lug things around (apart from me) so the boot was suitable. It did make putting the PH sticker in the back window easier!
It did not rattle or leak. It was tightened once after a few months of ownership as it did make a creek. Once tightened it was perfect for the 3 years I owned it.

In the end I concluded that the roof was really at its best in the winter when it was closed because it's glass and made for a bright interior interior but in the summer it was nothing like a cabrio just a big sunroof really.
Did have some motor problems - had to help it close sometimes.

As the nickname suggests, I've got one of these. The hatch window works great; I play footy during the winter and the lads are always stunned to see me putting my kit in the front compartment, then hoisting the team kitbag through the window onto the folded back seats and speeding off in Pork comfort. I prefer open top driving and the Targa is perfect, the light floods in without any buffeting at motorway speeds. Great car
