I'm changing the steering wheel on my Elise to a Momo six holed type so that I can fit a spacer to bring it closer to me.

I wanted to have a Lotus badge as the centre horn push on the Momo, and have found that Bell and Colvill have Momo compatible horn push switches for sale on their website for £36. However, I was wondering if the standard horn push on the standard non-airbagged Elise wheel was actually a Momo style one? To save me taking my steering wheel pad apart to find out, I was wondering if anyone knew if this was the case and, if so, whether the horn push comes out easily. If so, I could save myself some money by re-using that horn push on my Momo wheel.

Hi,

Note sure about an S1 but I have used the standard horn push from my S2 (111r) into a Momo wheel.

Dave

read your note again and I am not sure why I mentioned S1/S2 - been a long day. It comes out OK. If I remember correctly I pulled it out from the front and then found out it's designed to come out from the rear. I will check tonight.

Thanks. I'll pop the pad off and have a look from behind this evening when I get home. Could save me £36 I don't want to damage the wheel though, the car's next owner will probably need that!

Hi,

Checked my old wheel last night and I removed it from the rear - took off the bit of polystyrene. However I think it is easier to get it off from the front. The plastic bit with false screw heads is just a push in. There's a 1mm rim which is hooked under the trim.

Mine came out easy and it fits in no problem to the Momo wheel. I plan to do the same as you and rebuild the standard wheel when (if) I sell the car

Wonderful - thanks. That's good advice as I was going to try from the rear! I spoke to Bell and Collvil this morning and they confirmed that it is a MOMO type. They did say that some of them may need a little filing before they fit in the MOMO wheel though - nothing major - just to ease the fit.

The standard fit Elise steering wheel is Nardi. The airbagged one on the federal Elise/2006 Super Touring is Momo. If that helps any
