It's dedicated as a public highway so it's the same regime as anywhere else, privately-owned or not.
I think I've seen at least one person being talked to on the hard shoulder every time I've used it.....
The usual mixture of marked and unmarked cars. Given it's reputation as a fast bit of motorway, it wouldn't surprise me if the Police patrol even more heavily than any other bit of motorway.

Eeeeek,I don't use it that often, but I've never seen Plod on there, I was led to believe it gained quite a reputation in the first few months after it opened as a good piece of road to "make progress" on late at night.
Obviously Plod has got wise !
it still is just be careful. I fly down it
but then Im not one for taking my own advice. Ive seen Jags/octavia's/modeo st220's/ all black all unmarked.

Above incident with oncoming old dear could have resulted in rather small particles of my old Golf being suitably distributed across said motorway as I may have been making rather good progress, due to it being about 00:30!!
The above comments of plod have been duly and gratefully noted! ( I go up there quite regularly to my G/F and havent seen any!!)

It was policed quite "leniently" when it firs opened. This drew a lot of attention from the "speed is always bad" brigade and consequently plod got a bit firmer and visible.
I've personally had a POLICE sign flashed at me from an unmarked car as I was accelerating towards a three figure speed in my Porsche.

I too have seen plenty of police on M6 Toll, I use it daily.
They started doing radar checks ( Cannock/Staff) end heading south, just after the normal M6 merges away. I didnt see them pull anyone.
Have seen the Skoda VRS, there are 2, one black, one silver both had BX03 --- reg's
Doenst there need to be crashes / injuries / complaints before the police set up speed traps ?
I havent seen a crash on the Tollbergring in all the time I have used it

And the result was ?????
I slowed down, waved an acknowledgement and that was that. I'm guessing they saw a bloke out in his P&J about to give it some welly on a near empty, straight road in good weather conditions. They acted appropriately, full marks to them.

I use it when ever I go up North and have never seen a Police car although I have heard they use the Octavias.
Does anyone remember the story in the papers a while back about some of the local garages sending people to the toll road on test drives because it was easier to speed?
I followed a Fiesta down the toll road coming back from Oulton park and when it blasted past me I just had to catch him up for a laugh to see how fast he was going. He was crazy and going well over 100 in a boggo fiesta. I guess he was lucky it was down hill but I wouldnt have rated his chances of stopping quickly.

oh yes, the childish amusement to be derived from redlining your way through the gears away from the tollbooth!
And to think I thought it was only me!!!![]()
Just what is it about tollbooths that makes us do this ??![]()
That's the best part of the drive
Dartford crossing toll is £1 = bargain

Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
