De-catting, overfuelling chip upgrades,Any downsides?

Was wondering if any one has done the above and suffered any downsides i.e overfuelling in traffic and running problems?

Flames... but then that's not exactly a down-side.

The added vibration can cause resonation issues (flexing) with the exhaust (especially if you have a sports rear section) and can also identify resonating trim that may not have been present prior to the changes.

These werent the problems i was thinking of,more like could this set up stand up to town driving or sitting in traffic for short periods?

I've not had any problems... only initial start up idle smoothness, tends to be very lumpy. Sat in lots of summer traffic last year with no problems.

how do you mean stand up to town driving? even decatted the ecu still reads the lambda signals as if the cats were there, so the fuelling is exactly the same .. where has the *overfuelling* seed in your mind been planted from?

The problems i tend to get are that sometimes and only some times after idling in heavy traffic the car seems to over fuel,chokes itself up and loses power,it then needs a good run of about 25 mls to clear itself,ive now changed the carbon fuel filter with a new one which was about half the weight of the old one that was taken out.Im hoping this will improve things.

Ah, you've had a chip remap and decats and now your car sometimes misbehaves in traffic? and the carbon can was full of fuel by the sounds of it?

It looks that way i will have to wait and see.I hope ive cured it.Was wondering if any one else has suffered this problem?

well the filling of the carbon canister will almost certainly be nothing to do with any remapping or the decats .. I don't know about other tuners but nothing I change interferes with the action of the carbon can, its purging or operation. I would imagine the episodes are purely co-incidental at this point.
