Escort Bonnet Cable

Dont know if anyone can help

I got a Mk5 escort an the bonnet cable has either snapped or come off when the bonnet was closed (typical seein how i was bout to do the Oil, water anti freeze etc!!!). Any ideas how i can get the bonnet open to fix/replace the cable. Also any ideas wheres the best place to get a new cable in the Bristol area?
