"Z" or "V" rating for Toyo front tyres.

Its tyre change time and, following recommendations, I was going to go for Toyo's. However, my local chap (who is a performance car specialist and has done extensive work on our Griff) says that the Toyo 215 fronts only come in "V" rating, not "ZR".

Has anyone else come across this? Are "V"'s legal for insurance purpopses?

check out the chimp forum, this topic is currently live in there.
Its rapidly looking like the only way forward now is SP9000 on the stock rims as V rating will no be acceptable to the Ins co.

This sort of thing is an absolute farce from insurance companies IMHO, if you a tyre blow out at 120mph because the rating is too low they arent going to pay out anyway because you were speeding!!!

why 215s and not 205s?
and what about insurance views on size changes, irrespective of V or Z ratings?

The Griffith 500 was first fitted with Bridgestone Expedia S-01 tyres: -
Front - 205/55 R15 ZR & 215/50 R15 ZR (with power steering)
Rear - 235/50 R16 ZR

Later the Griffith 500 was fitted with Bridgestone Expedia S-02 tyres: -
Front - 225/50 R15 ZR (with power steering)
Rear - 245/45 R16 ZR

Hope this information helps and provides more possible tyre choices?
