993RS Gearstick Question

Just bought a 993RS gearstick from a reputable company advertising in all the Porsche mags, to fit in my standard 993. I've been assured its OEM Porsche.

I assumed the silver part of the gearstick was alloy, the Porsche crest metal, and the shift pattern etched/engraved black.

You can imagine my surprise when I realised it was all cheap plastic and paint (except for the leather of course).

Can any 993RS owners confirm this.

Yep that's correct. It's one of the reasons why the RS gearknob is so much cheaper than the other 993 gearknobs.

And it scratches very easily

On the upside at least it's lighter than metal

OK, thanks. Seems to be taking weight-saving to its extreme.

Looks good from 5 feet away, and total cack up close.

A while back I saw on Ebay an auction for what I thought might be a non OE copy of an RS knob and gaiter. Not wishing to worry you Matt, but could you post a piccy?
