Salaries in small business
Discussion
Just curious, we've been running/growing our business for a number of years and we're now at the point of looking at maybe some acquisitions. What is clear is that the remuneration levels of the senior players in some of the businesses we're looking are way different to ours. Having just been involved on our own business, it's easy to get detached from industry norms so some pointers/opinions from the wider world would be appreciated.
So, in terms of salary range and benefits, what would you put on the following roles? Business is a Microsoft Gold Certified IT solutions provider with a good customer base, established 15 years, steady growth to £1.5m t/o, always profitable, 25 employees, and not central-London based!
1) MD - Business's founder/powerhouse, also effectively acts as Financial Director and Sales Director. Travel 20%
2) Technical Director - Business's senior consultant, developed all in-house products, all presales, all R&D, travel 50%. Highly MS Certified.
3) Services Director - runs support operation and man-manager for support/development teams.
So, what would you folks in small business be expecting to pay the members of the management team above?
Thanks
WB

If not, then for the TD, anything from £60k package (bottom end) to a £150k+ package or more - that may seem high but if the individual is i) good and ii) financially motivated then they will have no problems getting that contracting/consulting independently.
