Mark's just called me, blipping the throttle - the git. Sounds fabulous!

It might be cold, but it's clear and dry up in Yorkshire. I've told him we need to see some pics - today!

Sounds mint by the way.

Oh, did I say how good it sounds already? Yeah, ace!

Just got back, unfortunately no photo's as yet. I have all day tomorrow so will definately get some put up.

The bike got delivered a 12 noon. At 12.15 I was still sat on the thing thinking 'oh my god, what have I done', what with it being the first bike & all.

Anyway, plucked up the courage, and set off. I'm amazed at how comfy & easy to ride it is. I have visions of being scared senseless every second, but its a piece of p!ss (touch wood).

Had to fill the thing up twice already today.

Looks wise, its georgeous..... no really, and the sound, jesus, I only revved it to around 8k & its just sensational.

I can't stop thinking at 32 years of age that I should have done this 10 years ago.

I know I don't have anything to compare it to, with it being the only bike i've ever riden, apart from a ER500, but the this thing seems to hit another level at around 6k which has you holding on for dear life. I cannot image what another 10k feels like.

Overall, I'm amazed.

Picked up a CBR600F today, which is in a much lower league than the R6, but again a first bike at 35. Can someone please tell me why the DVLA didnt insist that I did this years ago, please?

Oh god wait till you ride a 1000

Anyway don't worry about that as even a 1000 owner like me is looking to get on an R6 now. That is how good it is.

Unfortunately the bikes wrapped up today as had to be at work at 7, and it was still -3 outside (and very icy around where I live).

No photo's to show as a result. Sorry.

The weather now is brilliant again though. Cold but sunny. If I get time I might nip home at lunchtime to get it.

Can't wait to learn how to ride this thing properly. Roll on summer.

Take it very very easy Hobo - it's cold and slippery out there and there's a lot more power going to the back wheel than you're used to

Don't take it easy running it in, thrash it right from the start. Just avoid snatchy loading of the engine. Be smooth with throttle and you should be good to take it up to 13000 minimum. Ignore the manual.

In all honesty I think it's me that need 'breaking-in' gently.

Have you seen the state of the back tyre !!!

Mark. looks sensational! I bet you had loads of people watching you go past.

Now, get a f***ing big lock and chain and secure it to something substantial when it's in a public car park!

Left chain at home by accident.

I agree with this, I gave my 2005 R1 about 60 miles beofre it hit the red line, modern engines don't need to be wrapped up in cotton wool for 600 miles......they are built to be revved

With regard to you you needing breaking in as you say....why not think about doing a Ron Haslam Race school day or something similar or a track day and use the instructors to guide you, don't be afraid too ask questions they are there to help and they have also been in your situation at one point in time. You will be amazed at how much you learn and what a raod bike, especially one as focused as your R6 can do....

Be careful mate and safe riding and above all enjoy your new & first bike
