Too much and never worth doing. Don't even think about it.

To do so properly would probably cost at least 15k in parts and labour and you'd kill the resale.

RHD 996s are cheap as a plate of David Dickinson's potatos anyway, comparatively and historically speaking.

I don't mean GT3s, Andy... you know that.

Boggo 996s have fallen off a beachy head though... see how a good 993 C2 can fetch same or more than a 996 C2 these days....

Why not Gt3's???? the spread between lhd & rhd Gt3 cars is currently narrower than i would have expected, especially when you consider the comparative number of rhd & lhd versions made plus the fact that there does not appear to be a comparative advantage to a lhd 996 shell as there obviously was in the previous aircooled lhd shells.
At close to the same price, rhd makes more sense to me.

Dom - It was the "historically speaking" bit of your post I was refereing to - funny though.

Paul - What do you think the current gap is? I got a 4 owner, never crashed, almost never tracked, FPSH, thouroughly documented 33,000 mile LHD GT3 CS for £37K. I reckon I got a very very good deal, but even allowing for that surely a RHD equivalent would be at least £5,000 to £7,500 more?

Well about 5k I would say.......It sounds like you got a great car Andy and am glad you are pleased with it.
But look at lhd 964/993 RS and the gap is much wider....particularly 993RS,,,as said the old body shell has advantage with lhd configuration...not so with 996.

most Gt3 are 2nd cars...and if you plan to use it for mostly trackday fun and particularly Spa/Ring jaunts then a lhd car may be a better bet......my only thought is that for say 5 odd grand or thereabouts, it may be easier to sell a rhd Gt3 in the UK.

I am just genuinely suprised the spread is so close.....particularly when you look at numbers produced, plus the Gt3 will get similar use to the earlier cars where the spread is so wide.....there must be an arbitrage here somewhere, but not immediately obvious right now!

The LHD 996 GT3 does have a bigger fuel tank as a consequence of not have the rack moved, but I'd say the driving position is about as good in RHD. My 1st "car" is a bike on which I do my 100 mile a day round trip to work, so yes LHD will not be a big issue for me.

As for re-sale - time will tell. A German dealer nearly bought mine but I beat him to it - don't envisage major problems, bit I'll worry about that in a year or two's time.

Andy, ultimately there is a larger market for lhd specialist Porsche...even far eastern rhd Porsche enthisiasts seem to prefer "authentic" lhd cars....don't think you will have any problems if you ever sell
