How long have I got?
Discussion
Guys,
I got flashed by a gatso about 3 weeks ago, but have yet received nothing through the post! (I realise there may have been no film), but I recall someone saying that unless you get the ticket within 2 weeks then it is not valid!
Could somebody please clarify this for me?
Cheers

14 days from the day after the camera activation is needed for NIP and Section 172, name the driver. If there are complications in tracing your address for service, then the fact it was posted (first class is sufficient)within that time and fails to reach you, say for example for 9 months because you have become slippery, then it will still be valid.
There is a statutory limit in proceedings on motoring offences of 6 months (except V.E.L. and insurance which is 3 years). Basically the summons must be issued within that time (signed by a Magistrates clerk or Magistrate)for proceedings to qualify your appearance at court. Once the summons is issued legally within the 6 months, it can be served on you 6 years later if you have decided to dodge and weave to avoid it.
If the camera only flashed once, then that will have been a warning.
