Hi anyone any ideas please.

V8S would not start but now can make it run all be it for a few min. Problem seems to be with Distrubutor as when I spray electrical cleaner into the cap it runs for a while but then cuts out again.

Morph,
Always difficult doing a diagnosis over the internet. But I would check basics first.
- Have you got a spark at each plug?
- If not, work back checking for 12 Volts at coil - distributor etc.
- Do a check for 12V at ignition amplifier - search on this forum for Green V8S's systematic routine.

- What about fuel? Have you got some in tank? Have you checked fuel pump? Is it reaching injectors?

Sounds like an ignition component failure. I suggest you get a HT diagnostic light to confirm, you can get lttle in-line plugs for a few quid specifically for this purpose but I find an ordinary cheap passive strobe light (sold as an ignition timing light, although it is hopeless for that) woks better because you can position it where it can be seen from the driver's seat. Once you have confirmed it is an ignition fault it would be easy enough to track it down using an ordinary 12v test light or volt meter.

Sorted, it was the rotor arm (less than £7 from Halfords) Old one looked ok but the metal clamp inside was warn so not held in firm.

Thank you everyone for advise / info.
