ECHR - sue for school detentions!

A girl in Moray (to the east of Inverness) has been given 11 detentions in seven months, some for "something as trivial as drinking a can of cherryade in class" according to the TV news last night.
So she's going to sue her local education authority for infinging her human rights.
Now ...
School are having disciplinary measures available to them reduced all the time. Presumably she was told not to drink cherryade (or, presuambly, anything else)in class and still did it. What planet is she on? Other than the "I want lots of free money for f**k all and being an idle little b!tch" one.

I was going to say, let's not immediately jump to the world's gone mad unless it actually gets agreed in a court. But on the other hand, the fact that she is going to sue at all is symptomatic of the problem.
Interesting that there have been no quotes from her parents, who could easily have said "no my daughter's not going on detention" and the school couldn't have done anything about it.
The kid said "I am not some kind of rebel, I am a good pupil ..." so why did you get so many detentions then?
