One of the sites I'm trying to get on is asking me to turn on Active X controls in my Web Browser. I'm using Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox and can't find out any thing referring to Active X in either one. Anyone know what it is, in Numptie Language please.

In IE tools menu, internet options , security tab, then custom or default level for the area your intrested in, theres lots of active x optiosn in here, you'll want download and run enabled, thats if you trust the control/website.

Active X is just something used to download an extra 'feature' in a website, like an online virus scanner for example. Similar to Java. I would definately not recommend allowing it unless you trust the website as damage can be caused with spyware and crap..

It's a proprietary (and potentially dangerous) MS technology. I don't think it's supported in Firefox.
