efI code 4 - after 225 miles...
Discussion
Hi All,
So pleased to take delivery of my sagaris today, just 11 months old and only 125 miles (was on show at P1 club and not used i'm told) it ran fine on the way home and around the area, then parked it up.
Started it this evening when the mrs got home so we could go out, EFI code on the dash and horrible smell of neat fuel followed by a nasty "other" but "hot" smell, the engine won't idle nicely and hunts before finally cutting out...
Any ideas anyone, can this be reset? driven to the dealers? I'm going to call castle in the morning but really i need to use it at 6am to get to a site given my other car is in for service till friday

Had briefly once or twice, & disappeared of it's own accord. You say it was after starting - as you're probably aware, these highly-tuned engines need starting in the way they like, ie. no throttle as it starts and settles down to idle for a few moments before drving off. The petrol smell plus efi light does suggest it might have run too rich after starting, in my experience. If re-started again now, it may be fine?

Can't think of anything else I'm afraid. Haven't heard of anyone with this fault exactly....may have to get Castle's advice, they will probably run thro' a number of things to try, but doesn't get you to work on time! If the car's been sat around for a while it may have caused an odd glitch that will disappear with use, and doesn't normally happen. Sounds like the fuelling is obviously wrong - most likely a fault in the efi sensor, that may well clear after warming up?
