Am thinking about a non iPod mp3 player.

I am thinking of purchasing a Sony NWA3000 but have heard so many complaints about the software that comes with this. Does anyone have any experience with these new Walkman products? And is the software really so bad to cross it off the list?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

The software is truly awful, unless you plan change the music on the player on a daily basis, you should be able to live with it.

After weeks of reading and contemplation, I've ordered a Creative Zen 20Gb thingy. (I checked last night and I've got 17Gb of ripped CDs, so that should be adequate).

A review will follow in a few days, if you're interested.

I bought the Sony after being an iPod Mini owner and like it a lot. True the software is crap but as soon as you install it you can download for free an add-on from the Sony site which makes it perfectly usable.

The Sony has great battery life (lasts about 5 times what the iPod used to), is easy to use and has shown no bugs or errors so far. The only downsides are the menu's can take a second or two to load on the screen and the volume level from the headphones is pretty crap if you are anywhere loud (like on a running machine for example).
