Hi,

We at Amprolite are looking to make some carbon fibre body protection for behind the front wheels on the Sagaris as well as making some Carbon Fibre Splitters for the front and rear.

I am trying to guage some sort of volume of sales if we decided to pursue these parts.

Kind regards

Matt Rivett

I would be interested in some CF upgrades as you can never have enough of it

Definitely interested, but more interested in a Carbon bonnet held down by racing clips, and maybe some carbon wing mirrors to go with it. The weight saving when combined with the carbon splitter would be significant. How about a carbon rear venturi too? It would kind of need carbon at the back somewhere too I reckon.

Yes, would be interested. Price is an issue though but none the less I like the idea!

Yes but we all have the same problems:

Stone chips on the side and the front splitter is somewhat fragile. Ideally the front splitter would be able to sustain a bump against the kerb and not split.

You can dream .........

theres a company in the US that do some clear plastic moulded covers for the front of the Elise (which suffers damage easy on ramps etc) ...wonder if something similar for the Sagaris would work......

We do manufacture a material that will take a bump and would be ideal for a front splitter that gets knocked about. We make sill protectors and floor protection for rally cars out of it. We will investigate its use as a cover for the splitters and the area behind the wheels.

Carbon fibre is a VERY brittle material, Carbon Kevlar or better still, twintex are the ideal materials for such applications. Have a look at EPM Technology for such solutions but expect to pay for it. Twintex is used for rally car floorpans and is very robust.

Twintex is the material we use.

The area on my car which is most in need of protection is below the front number plate. That bit grounds far more easily on speed bumps and uneven surfaces than the front splitters do. A thin piece of material (CF, CK, Twintex, whatever is most appropriate) fitted there and curved to match the body would be very useful.

I thought the area behind the front wheels would take a battering from stones, but in 10,000 miles I’ve only got a couple of very, very small chips. So I’m not sure that protection would be worth it.

3000 miles and down to bare fibre glass behind the front wheels - bring on the gaurds.

Wierd Daftlad, it would appear that we both have iced tit Sagari (a pair of iced tits!) yet in 4700 miles i've not suffered much in the way of chips behind the front wheel arch. I too assumed it would be peppered. I did tick the paint protection box in the options list and it seems to have worked far better than I thought it would. I was wondering if you had it too? If so then it ruins my theory somewhat! It's not armourfend but some sort of elastic quality to the paint itself which makes it much tougher. At under 500 quid I recommend it as an option.

I have paintshield but a small section of paintwork remains exposed. Running Dunlop SSR tyres probably spits a little more at the arches than the F1s. Its not a big problem, but the Carbon spats would look much nicer than the white glass!

I'm sure there would be a market for a protector for the Chim/Griff to protect the ourigger area if you are looking for ideas - this collects cr*p and chips/rusts and is crying out for some kind of protection. Bigger potential market too! They also have a splitter which on most cars has long since gone awol.

I agree, the front takes a big hammering just under the number plate. The splitters do not hit the ground only kerbs

Definitely interested in some carbon fibre bits such as splitters, door mirrors & rear fairing around the exhausts.

A carbon fibre & leather steering wheel would be nice too, like in the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano featured in April's EVO page 77.

Us bikers have been fans of CF goodies for years, so hope there is enough interest to make production viable.

Twintex is not carbon fibre, it is pp with a matrix. Plastic bags and glass fibre.
