25 years we have been together, 20 years we have been married. All of this time I have had something in the garage, in bits, Minis MGs and lately a Big Bad Wedge. I got used to her silly ways along time ago, How long does it take for a woman to realise she has a very close love rival, and it dont drink Vodka and shop in Marks & Sparks ? A petrol head has to have something to do on long winter nights and sitting in front of a 28 inch widescreen just dont do it for me. I put up with her cats, plants and mother, why cant she learn to love my Wedge just a bit ??

Got rid of mine before I bought my Wedge.

I don't have any problems ('cept kids calling it my pimpmobile)

my wife hates mine too. Not a good word to say about it in 9 years. She still calls it 'The Heap'.
However, both my kids like it (nearly 5 and 2.5) and it's know affectionately by them as the "tractor car" due to my daughter originally not quite understanding the concept of a 'track car'

My wife tolerates my cars but has recently taken to explaining how lumps of metal hold no attraction for her and what she needs, now the kids no longer want to associate with us, is something to nurture. I can see some sort of fury creature on the horizon. I guess a small dog will fit on the parcel shelf of the wedge. Perhaps I can use it as an excuse for us to both go out together.
"the dog needs a walk, shall we go for a drive to somewhere nice to walk him/her?"

One way to soften them up - probably incorrect phrase- is to put up that unit in the kitchen that should have been finished last year and any other diy stuff they have been going on about ; I just did two jobs like that and there now sems no problem about another toy as well as 'that car ' .Keener on diy now !

I am very lucky, Mrs H is pretty happy for me to mess about with cars and has been for the last 10 years, and has helped out a lot along the way..

..its going to cost me a DB7 for her 40th though I think (I've got 8 years of saving to go though )

What a thread... this will go on for ever!

I can’t miss an opportunity to have a pop at "Err" they just don’t understand "mars N venus". I am fortunate to have a 9 year old boy who loves it, so she can’t give me too much nag pie. And the war office (wife & lunatic daughter) can go shopping when they like... so we strike a good deal. Also look on the bright side, at least you get one week in four guaranteed in the garage when PMT comes to town! and Im getting it b***y twice!! now.

I only get real MAD when she lets the beer supply go low.

I used to have the same problem. Wifey told me one had to go (a Triumph Spitfire at the time) and when I said OK and she realised that I actually meant her, things have been much better since

Now when she winges, I just give her a friendly slap in the face or tell he I wont give her kids and all is peaceful again when the sobbing stops

Wedges are like women - can't live with them, can't live without them
