Well, I finally made the decision to axe the 111R - I've given it back to the dealer for sale.

The reason is that I'm covering motorway miles only and don’t really have too much time to actually enjoy the car in the right environment. I've been suffering with my neck and back for some time now and being stuck in the Elise for hundreds of miles didn't help. I never did work out how to sit in the car - is it leaning back with your head against the rest or upright??!

I actually wish I'd gone for a Sport 160 or S2 Sports Tourer because then I'd have been able to justify leaving it in the garage most of the time which I couldn't do with a £30K 111R.

Anyway, it's been great to read all of the posts on the PH Lotus forum - it's added another dimension to owning the Elise.

I guess I'll still drop by from time to time if that’s OK!

I think its going to be very interesting how things move forward with the range - going to be great seeing the S3 design. I've really enjoyed my time in the Elise and can only really fault the engine IMO - I didn't like the power delivery. The only other negative is the driving position for those wanting to spend time on the motorway but then that's not what the car was designed for even if Lotus marketing suggests it's a possible business car

Rob.

EDIT to say if anybody wants a bargain, let me know! I'm not advertising...

Sorry to see you parted from the 111R, if you enjoyed half as much as I enjoy mine it must have been a hard decision.

What is replacing her?

Nothing at the moment... Whatever does replace her wont be til next year - thinking I may even go back to a bike as I used to run a T reg CBR600, I would quite like an R1! Obviously that really will be the last straw for my back!

Yeah, I quite like the sound of the Europa but it would have to be an improvement in terms of motorway mileage. I'll have a look at Strattons when it's released. To be honest thoough, the driving position would have to be very different to the Elise for my to consider it...

Right, now you've seen the error of your ways and sent the lard-ass with the silly engine back to whence it came you can get back to plan A

Sport 160, the real Elise

Nice Mondeo diesel for the motorway for a few grand, bulletproof engine, loadsamilespergallon and a minter of a Sport 160 for about 13-14k in the garage for the weekends. There's a few around for sale.

Do it dude, best of both worlds

Hi Boggy... The problem is the low rate finance deals make it attractive to jump in a new Elise or Exige so the 2nd hand market has crashed... Guy mentioned a figure of around £21K to shift it quick. Either way, I have accepted the loss and will just have to go with it. Thats £21K for a 8K miles 05 reg Elise with touring and aircon!! Rob.

Ill see what happens - Im trusting him to work on the best possible deal. Guy was saying the 2nd hand models are staying around for ages at the moment. Maybe things will pick up a little in Spring.

Yep agree here! I took my car to them & they took the Mickey with a very bad trade in price to. There loss went somewhere else and got a much better deal, they'd have to bend over backward's to get my business again I'm afraid I'm very un-happy with that whole affair

Cheers geezers for the advice...

What do you reckon I should suggest to Guy at Strattons as a 'revised' sale price?
