Hey all,

Anyone know where the best place to get replacement gearstick and handbrake leather gators? Mine are getting a little tired.

Cheers

Interesting Whitey - how much if you do not mind me asking as I am considering the same (my portland grey one pretty worn and a little too "grey".

Back in late 2002 it was £12 each + vat for the fake leather ones. I doubt leather would be much more.

Yep!
* Remove ashtray, unscrew screw #1 underneath that holds front of console.
* Remove screw #2 that holds rear-end of console in the rear air vent.
* Unscrew gear knob.
* Unscrew handbrake button, catch spring on the way out.
* Unscrew the 2 little alum key screws on handbrake handle and remove.
* Lift off the whole centre console. Be shocked at how much the carpet has faded by comparison!
* Now you can simply lift away the centre piece.
* Peel off the old gear stick and handbrake covers. Mine were the plastic version
* Take the opportunity to remove the glue the factory left all over the aluminium.
* Slot in the new leather covers. Glue.
* Take opportunity to plug in lighter that never worked before!
* Reassemble!
* Nice new soft leather pieces
