How much has your Cerbera cost you

In terms of depreciation, over two and a bit years i reckon i have lost about 1.5k to 2k.

Maintenance/servicing i have probably spend about 4 or 5k

I don't think after market warranties cover maintenance (stand o be corected on this one) and folks on here have had varying degrees of success with different warranty companies.

The AA type £500 per hit schemes seem to be well regarded.

I'd say mines cost the average amount as highlighted to me by the guys on here before my purchase - 3k a year.
Profile is up to date.... although alot of the costs include upgrades. So not too harsh.

Depreciation - Absolutely no idea! Hopefully a big fat 0 !!!!!

I do Man Maths on the Cerb!

Bought it for £20k

Have spent about £12k on it in two years, repairs, upgrades and tyres. Doesn't include fuel or insurance.

Done about 30,000 miles.

I would have spent the money on more holidays which I would have forgotten.

I would have consumed more wine.

I would have had to hire a significant track car for track days which would have cost me a fortune.

I would have had to have major surgery to make myself as good looking as I obviously am when sitting in the Cerb.

My wife likes it because it keeps me from irritating her and having enough money to go on regular stag weekends with my "second time round" friends.

I like my TVR friends and the fun I get from the Sprint Challenge.

I would say that in the last 3 years mine has cost me between £7-9K (including upgrades).

First year was by far the most expensive with upgrades and a top-end rebuild but since then, and I know I'm going to regret saying this, she's been running like a dream with very little unexpected expense.

Depreciation wise, don't even want to think about...

~£5,000k maintenance
~£3,000k petrol
~£1,500k insurance

thereabouts. This is for a '97 4.2 with 28k miles when I bought, have now 38k miles on the clock

End of the month will be my first year ala Cerb. Depreciation no idea, repairs and servicing just under £500 which include new clutch - warranty, new master - warranty, new slave x 2 - warranty, radiator - warranty. Had tappets and 6,000 mile service discounted by dealer which is the only money I've spent.
Dealers warranty's up soon so am bracing myself but without it I guess I'd be out of pocket £3,000 to £4,000 maybe more.
I probaly paid a bit over the top for the car in the first place but looking back I think I might be slightly ahead now.
Despite the niggles which I consider minor it's been a fantastic 12 months, fingers crossed it's sorted for 2006.

I guess a dealer would have scored £7k over private to sell you the car. So if you have paid nothing to run it bar £500 then I guess the car has cost you = what you paid less £19K (private price a yr ago) less what you would have paid out plus what you did pay out. So maybe £4k in first yr - so you are probably only marginally behind albeit if using indies the cost for running would have been 40% cheaper maybe. BUT still not a bad ad for buying from a dealer. A sticker price of £26.5K might be scarey though!

Purchse price 14k private.

4 months of ownership so it might not be very representative but:

4 tyres (change from SO3's even though they had loads of tread left) £250
Diff bushes and bracket £150 (AA picked up the rest)
AA cover and warranty £180
Oil £50

Total so far: £630

I won't count insurance as you pay that with every car. We have the 12000 mile service due soon so will have to add another £800 or so to the above.

Looking at the cars you have listed on your profile I suggest you test drive a few Cerbs before committing. They are very different to your previous cars.

Don't think I could have bought the car I wanted for £19K, looked at loads from, £20K to £27K and all bar 'the one' had issues. Have to agree with you though re: the dealer option, for me it worked a treat.
