Back up software

[Black5]

Is there any free backup software about?

Looking for something a little easier than a straight copy to backup photo's & music onto an external HDD.

Windows XP has some built in, never really used it though so I don't know how good it is.

How good os the Windows backup?

Other software package looks pretty good.

As I am backing up to an external drive, will I be able to get files from the drive onto my laptop. ie. Do the files read as normal files or are they compressed / encripted?
