Intermittent Wiper...The Answer?
Discussion
Hi Chaps.
Have a look at www.smart-screen.co.uk and at the SS01 model which they tell me is perfect for the S.
Anyone fitted one?
Might give it a try.
Tim

Fortunate to have intermittent as standard on the S3 ... buit whilst on about wipers and upgrades etc... as the wipers are so useless is there a complete alternative? (hope you don't think I am trying to hijack the thread but seemed logical to try and keep wiper comments on one thread)

V8Smith fitted the Griff/Chim wippper and washer arrangement to his V8S.......
these spray the water onto the screen by having tubing fitted along the wipper arm so the water actually gets to the screen .......
Leven do a much improved wiper for the griffs/chims with water ditribution actual built into the wiper arm along the lentgh of the blade, much neatter looking and even ore efficient water on screen.....
I don't know how much mucking about was required though...... it may only have been a bit of re-plumbing for the squirters I dont know if the blades needed modifing in lentgh ........ (suggest drop V8Smith a line if interested....or ask Leven if the will fit on an S)
I don't know if this helps cos IIRC the wiper blades on the S only seem to hit a third of the screen
...... or do you want to improve the motor on the whippers ... Im not sure if this helps, for some reason I saved the page in my favourites thinking it may comein handy....

Mine's an S2 (with S3 dash and doors, yes it is an S2 probaly one of the last few to be made, hence TVR trying other bits on), but still does'nt have intermit wipe....
would be nice if I did have it, but there again, could'nt use it anyway, not for about a year!!!

Should be on the down position of the stalk IIRC. Do the wipers self park? If not then you probably have a dodgy park switch.
no, they don't. think i've got a dodgy park switch!
I might wish I hadn't posted soon!
Mine is an S 1.5, nearly a 2.
four wiper stalk positions:
bottom. Off/Park
up one. Nothing.
up two. Normal speed continuous wipe.
up three. 'fast' continuous wipe.
Thought that was the same as other S1 and 2's in general and that the reason was no contact for intermittent wipe was present on the early Fiesta/Escort switch fitted.
Hence, this Smartscreen thingy might sort it.
This is not going to turn out another 'which TP' posting is it?
Cheers,
Tim.

A common S problem IIRC
Mine was a '90 S2 and had intermittent wipe.
