Following on from my fun earlier this week with Limewire, I am still having major issues with my computer.

I have removed Limewire from my system as much as I can see is possible. I used the uninstaller and there is no longer any visible representation of Limewire on the desktop or in any of the menu's or folders. However, I still keep getting an error window for Limewire popping up all the time, asking me to try and reinstall it. It's doing my head in

And now I have a completely new issue to deal with, which I can only assume (due to timing) is associated with the Limewire problem. When my computer now boots up I find that I cannot load certain programs, mainly Internet Explorer or MSN Messenger. I can click on the icons but nothing happens. Firefox still works fine, as does all my Office programs, iTunes, etc, but IE and Messenger just refuse to load. Is there any non-virus related reason for this?

I am thinking of just recovering the computer and starting again, but it's not the ideal solution as I have a lot of stuff to put back on it, even after a system recovery.

And you've definitely scanned it for viruses etc. ?

If that's the case, I don't think you've any option but to reinstall; something seems terminally awry.

I have Norton Antivirus and it hasn't suggested that anything is wrong. Having said that I never quite fully trust antivirus software, as I always imagine that it can't be THAT accurate.

But yeah, considering full system recovery as my only safe option. I'll just have to find a spare day to set aside for software reloading now.

Use AVG, Norton is crap. See other posts relating Anti-virus if you don't believe me.
