new 2007 model ?
Discussion
Just got back from a talk given be Tony Shute, the Elise project manager at Lotus. Seems their main concerns at the moment are the new Esprit and aligning new car launches globally. As the Yanks only got the Federilised Elise last year I guess we've a while yet for Elise 3. Good news is that Tony said he would like to see the Elise just run and run.
Morning all,
To be honest this makes sense, Lotus need contrary to some people's opinion a fun car (Elise/Exige) yes they also need a super car and a mid range model but they need bread & butter so to speak, the Elise has been a total success and let's face it has saved Lotus from almost bankruptcy, the Espirt was a great car but time's have changed and Lotus need's to change with it, the next Super car can't just go fast and handle it need's to be reliable and hold some of it's value to, I'm not being silly when I saw that the V8 is a great car but a complete nightmare to own, the V10 engine out of the Bmw makes great sense

Tony was a brilliant speaker. The aim of Lotus is to develop a distinct and worldwide product range with the elise at the bottom and a "supercar" Esprit at the top. In the middle a Europa type car and he didnt rule out a 4x4. When asked about the engine in the supercar his reply was "definatly a petrol engine, you wont be disapointed!"
