Talking to guy at work and he rckons that it will be possible to put a Windows type operating system on the ps3.
Will it?.
Surely that would make it an extremely powerful computer for gaming and a lot cheaper than whats on offer.

Whoever this chap has got his facts from is clearly talking from his arse.

While, yes, XBoxes have been able to run linux flavours, theres absolutely no chance in hell that the PS3 will run it due to the CPU architecture.

Put simply, one for the geeks who fancy trying to get it to work, but it'll NEVER be an easy one for home 'give it a go' joes...

While I accept it'll never be easy, I can assure you it'll happen.

These crazy linux guys need a CPU and some RAM. Architecture in no obstacle.

If they can get it on a DS, they can get it on anything.

I can accept Linux - that'll happen - but Windows???

I can hardly get the stuff to work on a reasonably new pc let alone a flilpping PS3

Well the OP said 'Windows type' not 'Windows'.

Having said that, the PS3 could probably run an emulation layer with Windows on top of it and a decent speed.

That is if Sony can stop arseing about with DRM and copy protection and actually get the damn thing to market. (muppets)
