944 stoneguards

Posted this within a previous thread but thought I'd try again fresh -
does anyone have a foolproof way of removing the 20yr old stoneguards on my 944 Turbo and applying replacements ?
Just abandoned one application attempt as fingerprints/tiny air bubbles/lines made it look worse than the original!!!!

Yes. Be careful not to damage the paint (on the body, that is).

Hi guys
Thanks for the advice.
The stoneguards I've bought are after-market from Prestige Parts www.prestigeparts.co.uk/944exterior.htm for £35. They're not original 3M but a copy made by Prestige Parts themselves. They say they supply to many bodyshops - damned if I can put even one on...how can you immerse stickback plastic in soapy water and then get it to stick?!!!
