hi people!

im possibly looking to buy a 2001 y plate 3.2 s boxter.

seen one with 40500 on the clock at £19950

my question is, how do i tell the difference between the older/newer face lift model?
it was registered 11/08/2001 and has the clear lights all round but im unsure if these were added after

thanks

It`s not a facelift model - these came out in the 2003MY so weren`t sold until the end of 2002. Easiest way to tell is the glass rear screen - other changes can be applied to earlier cars (bumpers, wheels, lights etc)but the hood isn`t an economic mod!

Facelift model has more aggressive bumpers - front more muscular creases, rear bumber has additional lower aero bumper detail

Facelift model also features a wider track at the rear with wider standard tyres plus an enhanced interior - more contoured air vents, electric boot releases etc.

Heated rear glass screen is key upgrade

MY 01 has a few very minor tweeks and was pre the glass screen facelift.

Check the boot opening mechanism. It is electric and not the big silver manual handle then it was a Boxster manufactured after Sept. 00 (Porsche change the factory tooling during the August holdidays each year).

The should not be confused with the glass screen facelift of the major 02/03 facelift which included a glove box.

Of course the most important change was the extra 8bhp!
