My guy went a big cagey about it yesterday, he pretty much said that people who round saying that there such and auch on the list if they pay there deposit are just being told that as a sales line. He said they really wont know untill they get there allocation. Im gunna put my money down and if i dont like the date they give me ill cancel it and get a decent 996TT for decent money.

so really i dont mind either way now.

OPC dealers dont know yet what allocation they will get - they should know by May.
Going by what happened after 996TT launched in UK (July '00) each dealer was allocated 1-3 cars month (dependent on dealership size) for first 6 months after launch.

IMO you delivery date will be dependent on where you are on your OPC list when you placed your original LOI.

I'd heard that the LOI date is going to be irrelevant - it depends on how you score on the "Porsche-ometer" - so the more cars you've bought recently - the higher up the queue you may go!

You can check with Porcshe Reading - the dealership is legally obliged to process /allocate you car in line with what position you are in their Q when you placed you original LOI/£1k placeholder.

I'm sure that OPC dealership play games , but if they get caught ....!!

Similarly they were not allowed process any $10k deposits for the new 997TT prior to launch.

My OPC have had my LOI/£1k placeholder for the next gen turbo since Feb'02 - and there were still a handful of folks ahead of me in their Q.

but you actually gave them 1k and LOI? I gave an LOI years ago but was never asked about a 1k deposit.

I didnt think they could take money before a launch but maybe these guys done it on the side kind of thing, if so you should be wanting the very 1st car that comes there way.

Then they did it right under PorscheGB's nose cos Reading OPC were more than happy to take my LOI & £1000 for a 997TT back in Sept 03 & put it on a Porsche order form!

Got tired waiting & rightly or wrongly decided to save the depreciation & bought an 18month old GT3 last autumn. Thought about keeping the LOI with them but then decided to withdraw it around December. When I'd given them the original LOI the sales guy had said it was the 1st one they'd had.
