Oil Smell on Startup

Hi.

Happy xmas to you all.

2001 996 C4 15k on clock, noticed on start up that a smell of oil from the exhausts, engine is a little bit rough sometimes, but the oil pres is good.

Also when I fill up I get bubbling from the fuel filler, even hen I only put half or full amount in?

Hi Steve.

The 996tt is known for giving a bit of smoke on start up, not sure about the C4. You certainly wouldn't want to stand behind mine when I fire it up having not been used for 4 days. How much oil are you going through? If you are concerned about your car speak to your OPC.

At the petrol station try turning fuel tap by 180 degrees so the pipe is effectively Vertical instead of Horizontal. This step solved the problem with my car.

My 996TT is very oily smokey on start-up. Drinks oil like a fish as well. Been told is normal and nothing to worry about.
