Lee Filters (thanks chaps)
Discussion
Thanks for the help and advice chaps.
Got the starter pack (2 filters, holder, bag and posh cloth) plus the wide angle lens mount. Def the cheapest way to buy.
It's just turned up in the post... God it's sexy compared to Cokin! Managed to get one off before the camera (and I) froze standing outside. Not the most inspired pic... but the closest!

Where did you buy the kit from Steve?
And, bit of a
request, but would you mind taking a picture of your camera with the wide angle lens mount and filter fitted please?
Order of the www.SadGit.net to Andy

But how does it fit to the les/es?
Martin.
tut... I've uploded a pic (to the same post, you may have to refresh to see the replacement) showing better how it works.
You buy a lens mount (in my case - 77 mm) screw onto the lens(s) and then the Lee filter holder simply clips on... (v easy)/ just pull out the pin and - bang.

Is there some kind of (bellows?) lens shade that can be attached to it
to keep unwanted light from hitting the new 'front element' ?
yep... Just do a search on www.warehouseexpress.co.uk for Lee filters and you'll find a section re: hoods.

Trouble with Lee filters is that you end up buying them (and they are bloody expensive).
Just got 'Blue Sky' and popped out just now to see if it er... did what it said. I guess it does! Definately more blue than the ND grad anyway.
edited to add... I also got 'sunset'. Hmmm - now I have to wait hours to try it.

You could try the sunset anyway - might be interesting.
Do they do a 'Remove Clouds' filter? It's solid grey here today ....
