......In the last two days, I have witnessed filth!
Discussion
Yesterday whilst I was walking on Port Dundas Road in Glasgows city centre a sky/light blue Maserati Quattroporte passed by me. The 1st one I have ever seen in the flesh!.
My god it was beautiful, even with its winter suit of crap tossed up by the road surfaces at this time of year.
Its safe to say that the Quattroporte is the only car that has struck me so much recently, that I can say, "Yes that is the most exclusive, beautiful car on the road today".
Did that whole thing you do when you stare at something, and not a second thought comes into your head saying "Look where you're going".
Aww inspiring car
Looked a bit like this one:
Then today, was travelling along the M8 near Livingston, when a black Quattroporte passed my going the opposite direction... superb!

Have certainly seen one, same as the picture above, in and around Glasgow. It was heading up to the M8 from the Infirmary as I was coming in, one day last week. Not as big in the metal as I would have expected, but magnificent choice for a family runabout and I would have one over an S class or 5/7 series anyday. In fact there was one on ebay for £50k last week, but must have been sold as it didn't run to auction end.

They really aren't growing on me at all, I just don't like them
But you could see yourself being ferried around in the back and when it takes your fancy asking Jeeves to shift over and let you drive for a bit?
See you soon.
Not really, that's what the Phantom is for
I agree it fills a niche market and think it will sell well, it just doesn't appeal to me.
If I really wanted a Maser I'd buy a Gransport and something else with the change.

The Phantom's £250K isn't it? and you can't really have fun in the twisties.
I agree entirely about it's lack of appeal, it's not my sort of car either, but if you were of the correct persuasion, would this not be the thing to go for? Maybe the M5?
Personally I don't think people really get the Quattroporte and it hasn't sold well as a result. I say this with no sales figures to hand, I just go off what I see knocking about.

I barely see any at the Maser dealers in Colchester either.
Steve, I mean if I could afford a chauffer, I could probably afford a Phantom
Alternatives...hmmm
M5
RS6
Porsche Panamera??
Cayenne Turbo
X5?
Range Rover Vogue
Second hand Arnage?
I'm sure you'd suit a Phantom..........but......What I mean is when you fancy a bit of a drive ie. when the road gets twisty, you wouldn't want to be in a Phantom would you?
Then again, you do now mention the Panamera, which is where I have to concede that there are/will be better 4 seaters on the market.
I think the niche that the Quattroporte tries to settle itself into, is the looks department!.
M5's, RS6's etc are the car equivelent of a pumped up brash muscle man, whilst the Masser is the subtle, stylish and cool character, who's stature is somewhat understated.
Yet it also has the poke to escape from the 'lower classes' if need be.
To put it simply, buying an M5, or RS6 for instance, you have to explain what it is to make non-petrol(piston)head people notice just how amazing these cars are.
Yet with the Quattroporte people notice the car almost instantly and ask questions about it, then you can explain what it is all about.
To put it even more simply - Beauty doesn't have to be explained, people instantly get it!

Have you still got the Boxster Steve, bringing it to vmax?
Weather permitting, I'll be there with Lawrence in the F40.....it's a bit more.....VMAX really, dont you think?
Slightly more in keeping with the surroundings Would have liked to try the Boxster though.

The offer still stands for next time. No worries.
IIRC we're swapping aren't we?
