Am I asking too much ?
Discussion
Had this mail today. Enclosed are my and the mailers replies. What do you think ?
Hi
Your 400SE seems a bit expensive, especially with that sort of mileage - its
almost in early Chimaera territory!
What would your bottom line be?
Do you have any pics of the interior?
Hi xxx. I'm in no rush to sell. It either will sell at my asking price or
it will not. All I need is a Wedge fan who knows a decent motor when he sees
one. I certainly would not swap my 400 for a Chimera no matter how new it
was. I just don't like 'em !If it does not sell and I have too keep it then
I will not lose any sleep !
Enclosed is the information I have sent to all interested parties.
Regards
Nick
OK Nick
Thanks for the info - like I say, a bit more than I wanted to pay, particularly as it will need tyres soon and some other tidying.
It does look a nice car, but I'll look around a bit more since theres no negotiation here.
Good Luck
xxx
No probs Rob. Just front tyres. Backs are like new. Probably around 500 miles left on front.
Perhaps best if you look around at some others. If you ever look at mine then at least you will have saved the best until last :-)
Bear in mind also that I'm just about to Tax it with a clean MOT and it will have had a £500-600 service at a recognised TVR Specialist ( it's still their in fact ) and the asking price is a little more reasonable.
Cheers
Nick

Seems like a fair price to me. The way some wedges are going on ebay, for so little, it makes me wonder just how low prices can go. And if they get much cheaper then the cost of keeping them in fair nick will be harder to justify. If I only addded up all the £££ I've spent on mine over the years.............
Stick to your cost, if someone doesn't appreciate it they shouldn't buy it!

Can't see the validity of the Chimp price comparison at all.
I think he's saying YES WHAT A FANTASTIC CAR I ONLY WISH I HAD THE CASH TO BUY. PLUS I WOULD DEARLY LIKE TO BUY IT AND SWAP MY CHIMP FOR A REAL MANS CAR
I hope this helps.
Told you I was a mod.

I think that he's probably right. 350is are £3.5k to £4.0k asking price and 400s are usually +50%.
I think that you're right as well: if you want to sell put a good pair of new tyres on, knock a grand off the price and make it ono but if you're not bothered why not just keep it?
I think many people see an example of the breed and think that is the middle grond for price .. like
93 Chim 4.0L 8K
and the you see a wedge like yours .. it's a few years younger but hey .. might well be in exceptional condition compared to the Chim which may not be the best of it's kind.
Every model has it's :
1.Restoration project
2.No Mot but sound (maybe)
3. Runner
4. Fair
5. Good
6. A1 . Excellent
7. Concours (never left the garage) and polished every weekend
cars..
I think people are happy to forget this.
