Got a parking ticket

But they have recorded the registration incorrectly (one letter is wrong)

If I do not pay is there any chance of any comeback ?

Thanks

make a discrete inquiry as to wether the ticket was justified or some bollox using the incorrect reg number. If it matches throw the ticket int bin and buy yourself a pint, if it comes back as your reg number cough up and run down the next traffic warden you see

If the registration is wrong then how do they know it was you or that you were there? That's what I'd be asking! If they have a conflict then it casts doubt on the facts. Buy the pint.

Write back stating that you have been sent in error the attached parking ticket and that you are neither the registered keeper nor the owner of the car nor have you the use of the car mentioned. Keep a photocopy. There is no need to say anything lese.

This happened to me 3 yrs ago ; I heard nothing ever again.

I got one a few years ago, with the right colour, model and reg. Except that the offence took place in Lewisham, and I've never been there in my life. The first letter pointed this out, they replied saying they wanted a photocopy of the V5 and the tax disc. I replied that it would be illegal for me to remove the tax disc to photocopy it (no off-road parking, n'est-ce pas?) and I didn't hear anything more.

Worries me a little that there was a clone of my car somewhere. It's therefore such a shame I sold that car soon afterwards, to an Arab who was taking it overseas

Same thing happened to me earlier in the year - one wrong letter in reg - and I sent back a letter saying that I did not own a car with that reg.

Crafty gits then sent two duplicate tickets in the post this time with the correct reg on them. Still argued though that this seemed very dodgy and they were just making things up and got away with it.

Golden rule is to always keep photocopies of everything!
