Firstly, bought the car a week ago and almost sold it "not for me" - but I get it and whats more I LIKE IT!

Back to the question, on start up it is as lumpy as hell and mis-fires but after a while all becomes calm and free revving. Is this normal, used to Japanese cars which as I have previously stated are very different.

May just be running very rich. Good idea to ask your preferred TVR specialist what they make of it. Has it been serviced recently?

About 2000 miles ago by Nick Whale - I assume a good garage. Just been reading about Stepper motor, could it be this?

OH

Can often be the cause of a lumpy tickover.

BTW big welcome to the forum.

I'd clean it anyway, one less potential problem to rule out.

Lumpy tickover? Not really. Stepper motor problems can cause an eratic idle speed but souldn't make it lumpy.

My 450 is a bit like that - So now I start her up (be sure not to touch the accelerator to 'help' her along) then let her tick over on the drive for about a minute (its all it takes) - after that shes fine. But try to drive away before that and its stutter misfire and die ....
