996 tt service

Its 24k service time for the 996tt.The car is 5 years old(needs spark plugs etc) and im contemplating a specialist for the service instead of the main dealer for the first time.My opinion is that Porsche specialists may do a better job than the main agent as they have more interest in the cars.Am i wrong in thinking this and am i going to knock the re-sale value by going away from an OPC?Anyone know a really good specialist in the south east ?

As I keep my porsche warranty going I stick with the local OPC.

With my car's 4 year/48k mile service coming up with spark plugs, belts etc and new front discs and pads being added to the equation the 10% disount as a member of PCGB will be quite useful.

You don't have to get the service done at OPC to maintain warranty. My independent has even done Porsche warranty repairs. As long as the independent uses OEM parts and follows the service schedule it shouldn't be a problem.

This service is the bigger on of the 12k services. As mentioned plugs, but importantly, the poly-ma belt gets replaced. I understand this to require a specialist tool and the process to fit needs to be followed to the letter T, as any incorrect forces can damage the belt. Also, it needs to be tensioned correctly.

IMHO, I would only let an OPC do this on my turbo, having heard and experienced stories of over tightening belts by 'specialist'.

the downside being not many indy's will have experience with working on the TT yet , as the majority will have been serviced within the OPC dealership network.
