I started the car after 3/4 weeks of standing. It ran for 30 seconds then stalled and wouldn't restart. After investigation the fuel pump fuse had blow. I repalced it and still wouldnt start. I have replaced the ECU and fuel pump relays and still cannot hear the pump prime before starting. Any sugestion welcomed.

The Big Fuse ??

Sometimes i had this as mybig fuse had a crack in it - probably not but worth checking all the same - The pumps are also prone to give up the ghost - It could be jammed and need freeing

Good luck

100 Amp fuse is underneath the Drivers seat on the OUTSIDE of the car - i.e you need to jack up the car for access to it -

The fuse under the car will only prevent the battery charging. There is also the "main fuse" near to the battery positive, on the brown wire about six inches away, but if this has gone, you would have no supply at all. Do the metal relays click ?

Fused 12V supply from the battery +ve terminal to the +ve terminal on the fuel pump - does the pump run? If not the pump has probably seized. If it does run then you have some other problem in the power supply - perhaps the inertial cut-out has tripped, or another fuse has blown. In this case you will need to do more troubleshooting to track it down.

Drop the glovebox pocket thing under the dash (two self tappers) and the panel flaps down...lay upside down and look up and you will see a black box approx 2" (50mm) square with a red 'button' poking out.

NickC.. Just had same problem and turned out to be one of the relays on the "fling loom" by the battery... However, two days later it stalled whilst running and it was a poor connection onto the fuel pump. Even though the actual spade onto pump was cleaned the wire contact onto the connector was corroded.. New connectors= no more problems.

I had exactly the same problem which turned out to be the fuel pump connection - still I have a spare relay now

Not sure what else to check.

Replaced both relays with Bosch 0332014112.
Checked fuses.
Checked fuel pump connections and look ok.
No power at connections at the fuel pump.

(not sure about the Chimera) the grif has a plug behind the carpet beside the door lock - there is 2 big plugs, one could have unplugged (if Chimera's have one at all!). For me it explained bizarre rear lights behaviour, but I rememebr when unplugging it totaly the engine stopped running.

Please can anyone confirm what are the correct relays to use for the ECU and fuel pump. I have replaced them both with bosch 0332014122 but still cannot get a feed to the pump. I have also seen bosch relays 0732014112 being mentioned in the forums. Does anyone know the difference and can either be used?

Well mine "were" 0332014112, i say were as i got rid of the relays and sockets. To see if its low current supply or high current, remove the relay and link the three pins 87,87,30. Or if you have the old ones, pop the lid off and squeeze the relay closed, you will see what i mean.

After further investigation I believe that the fault is with the Immobiliser, does any one know where they are normally are found in the car. And also what electronic system is fitted to a 97, 4.0 ltr. I have heard that it is similar to the 3.9 ltr Range Rover.
