Our boxster S has just come back from Porsche after getting the RMS done. Car was 2 years out of warrranty but managed to persude Porsche to carry out work FOC. So thank you to Porsche GB..

Put the C4s in on Friday last week for annual service, same thing!! Luckily still in warranty buy quite disappointing that both cars are low mileage cars with full porsche service history. They using new seal now so hopefully this will be the last time...

What % of cars have had this done??

Isn't a "quick search" on RMS an oxymoron....?

Well, maybe not - the search itself will be quick - trawling through all the threads turned up in response will not, however!

Seen the posts before and seen the replies. Just pleased that porsche did all the work FOC despite being 2 years out of warranty.

"using a new seal"

Interesting - is this 100% true?

I'd be intrested to know what they've changed and see if it adrdesses the issue.

Good that you got it done FOC.
cheers

I was told about this wonderous "new seal and tool" on both of the occasions they replaced the RMS on my old C4S.

if i were you I'd trade in quick for one of those "last of the air-cooled" 911 jobbies. I hear they are bombproof and their seals never go. if you chop yours in you may only need to stump up another 4-5K. what price peace of mind?

Blimey softinthehead - don't wind him up anymore on this topic! He's already close to terminal sense of humour failure. Push him any further and I'm afraid that he might run riot, torching all the 993s that he can find shouting "AIR COOL THAT YA FECKER!!!"
